Former Hull Boss Steve Bruce 'Interested in' Vacant Aston Villa Role After Di Matteo Departure

"?Steve Bruce is reportedly interested in taking charge of the now vacant managerial post at Aston Villa after Roberto Di Matteo's departure on Monday morning.

The 55-year old has been without a job since leaving Hull and was linked to the England job, which of course eventually went to Sam Allardyce. But it seems Bruce isn't in the frame for the country's biggest job this time around, with according to ES"?PN FC reporting that he's keen on taking control of Villa.

Steve Bruce to Aston Villa would be a good appointment , that's who they should go for now ??

Roberto Di Matteo was sacked after losing to Preston on Saturday, leaving the Villains 19th in the Championship table. The Italian won just one of his 11 games in charge and lasted only 124 days at the club.

Villa are now on the hunt for their fifth manager in under a year, with Sam Allardyce and Steve McClaren amongst others being linked with the position.

Despite having previously been manager at Birmingham City, Bruce would reportedly have no reservations about taking the Villa job and is keen to get back into management.

The former Sunderland manager has an excellent track record of gaining promotion from the Championship and may well be just the appointment Villa need to turn around a worryingly poor start to the season.

Whether Villa fans would forgive Bruce for his affiliation with their fierce Midlands rivals is another matter, although his record may cause even the most hardened Villa fans to retract any preconceived notions they may have.

However Bruce's reputation may be tarnished among Birmingham fans if he is to make the move. The Blues' supporters still regard him highly after he twice won promotion with them to the Premier League.
