After their second straight victory of the tournament, Gor Mahia are now viewed as the team to beat in Group A.

Their splendid performance against Tanzanian side Yanga in their opening match and Zanzibar's KMKM on Monday have earned them so much respect that Ghanaian coach Kwesi Appiah, who will lead Sudanese outfit Al Khartoum against them today, says he will put every effort to ensure that he does not become K'Ogalo's next victim.

"I have sufficient information about the Kenyan opponents and it is a good thing that we have four days of training before we face them," Appiah said.

"I understand that they have very good players and that they are very physical with the ball so we shall have to be very strategic in our approach."

Gor could not have had a tougher opening assignment in the tournament but against Tanzanian giants Yanga, they surpassed expectations by beating them 2-1 before following this up with a 2-1 victory against Zanzibar champions KMKM.

Michael Olunga, nicknamed "Micah" by Tanzanians for his adorable skills, has found the net in both matches and he is currently the top scorer in the tournament.

During their light training session at the Sheikh Karume Memorial Stadium yesterday, coach Frank Nuttall was full of praise for his players, even saying it was time to review their target so they can go for the ultimate prize.

Before they left Nairobi, Nuttall had said that their only target was to make it past the group stage.
