Abdulrahman Bashir believes he can take a trophy with new club Nasarawa United just like he did two seasons ago when his four goals helped Enyimba win the Super Four in Abuja.

He however warns that his new teammates must take the Super Four seriously if they hope to achieve their targets for the new season.

The former Enyimba International man who joined the Solid Miners at the end of the 2014/2015 disclosed that his Lafia-based side are going for the kill, aiming for a historic double in the Confederation Cup and the Nigeria Professional Football League.

"Our aim is to win the Confederation Cup and the Premier League and my personal target is to help my new club Nasarawa United achieve that target this season," the 27-year-old revealed In a chat with www.npfl.ng.

"It is not going to be easy because there are so many good teams also playing in the two competitions that we are targeting so if we must achieve what we want to achieve, we just have to take our preparations seriously, there's no two ways about it. This is why I'm happy about this Super Four. It is good for all the teams playing on the continent.

"The tournament is a good chance for all of us to know whether we are fit or not fit. We thank God that all the four teams that played the Super Four in Kaduna played very well. So based on the performance, you can go back and look at the areas of error and those that we got right. This one in Uyo, we are going ahead to play ourselves again so we can assess where we are and where we can go."

Bashir is one of the few players in the Nasarawa United set up with some experience on the continent having featured regularly for Enyimba during his stint at the club. For him, the targets are realistic especially on the continent as he has confidence in the quality of his team. He also explains what the team must do.

"I have played the Champions League before when I was with Enyimba and this Confederation Cup is not very different," the striker began and added that "We have heard some things about our opponents, they are quick, tall and physical too but with the quality of players Nasarawa United have here, we can beat anyone.

"We are playing at home first and we want to take advantage of our home game against them. Since they are coming here first, we will like to start on a good note and play very well. Nasarawa United has a lot of quality and energetic players that can handle them well. Our coaches are putting us through and we are getting ready. I know we can go far in this competition."

The striker's stay at Enyimba was beleaguered with injuries but after a largely successful mid-season loan spell with Lobi Stars in which he played regularly, the striker believes he can recapture his fearsome reputation if he stays injury free this new season.

"I thank God because when I got injured two seasons ago, I did not know the injury will keep me from playing for the rest of the season. Now my injury has completely healed because I played for Lobi Stars last season without any problems, joining Nasarawa United will help me get back to playing regularly now that the injury is gone.

"Everybody knows Bashir Abdulrahman from some seasons ago that I am a good striker but after nearly one and half seasons of being sidelined by injury, I want to put my name back among the top strikers in the league. People have been calling me, asking what is wrong and everything. This season I want to come back again with the goals scoring they have always known me for. By God's grace, I know I can," he prayed.
