Barcelona manager Hansi Flick says Rodri is already proving how much he can strengthen the team after choosing the club over Real Madrid.
Real Madrid were also interested in signing the midfielder, but Rodri opted to join Barcelona.
Asked what Barcelona had gained by beating their rivals to the transfer, Flick said: “You only have to look at the contribution he makes to Barcelona’s play. When the opportunity to sign him arose, everyone at the club was convinced he could help us.
“He is a footballer who makes the team stronger – we have already seen that. I am very happy that he is here. He and Pedri bring the highest quality to our game.”
Barcelona are now preparing to host Real Madrid in an El Clasico.
The match will be played on 25 October.
