The Nigeria Women's U17 team, known as the Flamingos, triumphed in a warm-up match at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, Ogun State, ahead of their upcoming participation in the 2024 U17 Women's WAFU B Championship in Ghana, writes Nigeriasoccernet.com.
The friendly game saw them face off against Remo Stars Ladies and a Selected Female All-Stars team.
In the first half, the Flamingos played to a 1-1 draw against Remo Stars Ladies. Aishat Animashaun was the standout player in the opening half, scoring the Flamingos' only goal. The team dominated the second half, delivering a commanding 2-0 victory against the Selected Female All-Stars.
Shakirat Moshood opened the scoring with a penalty, and Harmony Chidi sealed the win with a brilliant goal.
The 2024 U17 Women's WAFU B Championship will take place from December 12 to 26, 2024, at the GFA Technical Center in Prampram, Ghana. The competition will feature teams from Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, Togo, Benin, and Nigeria, all vying for the inaugural title of the tournament.
