Feyenoord host Champions League debutants Como at De Kuip on Wednesday, with the Rotterdam side seeking a response to their 5-1 defeat by FC Barcelona and the visitors aiming to build on their impressive opening victory.
Cesc Fabregas’ Como beat RB Leipzig 4-1 in their first match in the competition, while Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s Feyenoord were heavily beaten at Camp Nou. However, Feyenoord have won all three of their Eredivisie matches since that loss.
They beat PEC Zwolle 7-0, followed that with a 5-0 victory over FC Utrecht and then ended AZ Alkmaar’s seven-month unbeaten run in the top flight with a 2-0 win. Those results have taken Feyenoord to the top of the early Eredivisie table without conceding a goal.
The Dutch club will now attempt to continue that run against one of the competition’s most tactically disciplined teams. Their record against Italian opposition offers little reassurance, though, with only one win in seven meetings. Feyenoord were most recently beaten 2-0 and 2-1 by Inter Milan in the last 16 of the 2024-25 Champions League and sit 33rd in the 36-team league phase.
Como began their European campaign with a convincing 4-1 win, but their domestic form has since been mixed. After collecting seven points from their first three Serie A matches, they beat Parma 2-1, lost 2-0 to promoted Frosinone and drew with Roma without scoring, despite Roma playing the final 44 minutes with 10 men following Donyell Malen’s dismissal.
Sunday’s goalless draw at Sinigaglia was Como’s first 0-0 of the Serie A season and ended a run of 53 matches without such a scoreline at the start of the campaign. It also meant they had failed to score in consecutive league games for the first time since December 2025, when they lost 4-0 to Inter and 1-0 to Roma. Como must now avoid going three matches without scoring in all competitions for the first time under Fabregas. They begin the round fifth in the league phase and are looking to retain a top-eight position.
Team news and predictions
Nacho Ferri has scored in three successive appearances since Ayase Ueda left for Lille, including a hat-trick against Zwolle and goals against Utrecht and AZ. Feyenoord also possess attacking threats in Gjivai Zechiel, Anis Hadj Moussa and Luciano Valente.
Feyenoord are without Thomas Beelen, Jordan Bos, Bart Nieuwkoop, Reiss Nelson, Gijs Smal and Shaqueel van Persie. Goncalo Borges, Tsuyoshi Watanabe and Jakub Moder are doubts. Moise Kean is Como’s only injured player, although Maxence Caqueret, Jayden Addai, Mauro Vigorito, Adrian Lahdo, Willy Kambwala and Edoardo Goldaniga are unavailable.
Martin Baturina, scorer of Como’s first Champions League goal and provider of another, is expected to start with Nico Paz, who supplied two assists against Leipzig. Assane Diao and Anastasios Douvikas could complete the attack.
Suggested bets: Moise Kean to make an impact – 1.78; Hadj Moussa to make an impact – 2.55; both teams to score and Como not to lose – 1.80.
Probable teams
Feyenoord: Ernst; Read, St Juste, Marmol, Lopez; Zechiel, Vanhoutte, Targhalline; Hadj Moussa, Ferri, Valente.
Como: Butez; Couto, Ramon, Chalobah, Valle; Milla, Da Cunha; Diao, Paz, Baturina; Douvikas.
Both sides have enough attacking quality to exploit defensive weaknesses, but Como’s possession play and attacking support could earn the Serie A newcomers another valuable Champions League result.
