Barcelona are still considering a move for Inter defender Federico Dimarco, who could become one of the Catalan club’s main transfer targets next summer, according to sport.es.
The 28-year-old Italy international was already on Barcelona’s radar during the final days of the summer transfer window. The Spanish club reportedly explored a deal that would have involved Alejandro Balde moving in the opposite direction, but the proposed exchange was not completed before the window closed.
Dimarco’s future at Inter remains of interest to Barcelona because his current contract with the Milan club runs until 30 June 2027. Inter and the player have not yet reached an agreement over an extension, leaving the situation under close observation from the Catalan side.
Barcelona are monitoring developments while assessing their options at left-back. The club are seeking a left-footed player capable of operating on the left side of the defence, a profile Dimarco is understood to fit.
Hansi Flick has used Xavi Esparta and Joao Cancelo more frequently in that position at the beginning of the season. At the same time, Balde has lost his place in the first-choice starting line-up, creating further uncertainty around Barcelona’s choices on the left flank.
That combination of circumstances has kept Dimarco within Barcelona’s plans beyond the unsuccessful approach made during the previous transfer window. The defender’s contract situation means Inter remain in control of his immediate future, but the absence of an agreement over a renewal is being followed closely by Barcelona.
The reported interest does not represent a completed transfer or a formal agreement between the clubs. Instead, Dimarco is being considered as part of Barcelona’s planning for next summer, with his performances, contract position and the club’s own needs at left-back all forming part of the assessment.
Barcelona’s earlier attempt to include Balde in a possible exchange failed to produce a deal, but sport.es says Dimarco continues to be viewed as a significant option. For now, the Italian remains an Inter player under contract until June 2027, while Barcelona continue to examine whether a future approach could be made.
