Akwa United have failed to defend the Federation Cup they won last year after they lost 4-2 on penalties to Nasarawa United after full time scores stood at 0-0.

Nigeria league leaders Wikki Tourists were also upstaged by lower league side Crown FC 4-3 on penalties after a scoreless draw in regulation time.

Crown gave as much as they got against Wikki and then steadied their nerves to also go through to the last four of the cup competition.

Nasarawa scorers in the penalty shootout against Akwa United were skipper Emmanuel Makama, Esosa Igbinoba, Thomas Zenke and Seun Sogbeso.

Akwa penalty goals were by Ubong Friday and Chigozie Emmanuel.

The quarterfinal between Warri Wolves and FC IfeanyiUbah in Ijebu-Ode was abandoned after Wolves walked out in protest after 55 minutes, when what they believed was a deserved equaliser was chalked off for offside.

The star quarterfinal between Enyimba and Rivers United, which was rained off today, will resume by 9 am tomorrow after a goalless first half in Ibadan.
