FC Barcelona, currently leading La Liga with a four-point advantage over Real Madrid, are enjoying a spectacular start to the 2024-2025 season. Despite their strong form, the Blaugrana’s management is already planning ahead and appear poised to secure their first signing for the summer of 2025.
According to Spanish outlet Jijantes, FC Barcelona have reached an agreement with Jonathan Tah, the experienced central defender from Bayer Leverkusen. Deco, the Catalan club’s sporting director, reportedly travelled to Leverkusen to meet with Tah and his agent. The meeting, held in a local restaurant, is said to have concluded positively, with both parties expressing satisfaction with the terms agreed upon.
Tah, now 28, has been a cornerstone for Bayer Leverkusen since 2015 and played a pivotal role in their Bundesliga title triumph last season. With 33 caps for the German national team and one goal in 21 appearances this year, the defender is set to join Barcelona on a free transfer.
For Barça, who continue to navigate financial challenges carefully, this represents a strategic move to reinforce an already competitive squad and ensure greater defensive solidity for the future.
