Former Italy striker Fabio Borini has announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 35.
Borini began his career in the Bologna academy before moving to Chelsea in 2007. He returned to Italy in 2011 to join Roma, continuing his development in Serie A.
In 2012, Borini moved to Liverpool in a transfer worth €13.3m. That same year, he made his only appearance for Italy.
After leaving Liverpool, Borini played for Sunderland, Milan and Verona. He later continued his career in Turkey with Fatih Karagumruk before returning to Italy to represent Sampdoria.
His final club was English side Salford.
