"?The FA will try to convince former England stars Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard to join the England setup once interim manager Gareth Southgate has been confirmed as the Three Lions' new manager.
Southgate, who according to the "?Daily Mail is the only candidate for the job, is set to be joined by assistant manager Steve Holland, but the FA are keen to include both Gerrard and Lampard. Any decision will be taken after the new manager has been confirmed.
FA technical director Dan Ashworth is reportedly keen to involve the former England players, and with both Gerrard and Lampard reaching the end of their respective playing careers, there may be a spot in the wider coaching setup, should Southgate agree, while the two complete their coaching badges.
Lampard, who made 106 international appearances for England, scoring 29 goals, is due to leave MLS club New York City once his contract expires at the end of the year, and could look to involve himself in the coaching setup.
Gerrard, who scored 21 goals in 114 England appearances, is also looking towards management as his playing days come to an end, and the Liverpool legend has reportedly been offered the manager position at League One club MK Dons.
Both players have had spells as players in America recently, and the FA are reportedly keen to bring formers players back to England in coaching capacities, encouraging them to earn their coaching badges and help teach the next generation of players as opposed to working in the media as pundits.
