FA Cup: Akwa United, Rivers United, Shooting Stars, Enyimba crash out

The intriguing part of the President Federation Cup was witnessed on Wednesday as more Nigeria Premier Football League teams failed to progress to the next round of the competition, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Reigning champions, Enyimba, Shooting Stars and Akwa United were all shown the exit door by Nigeria National League sides, Sokoto United, El Kanemi Warriors and Kebbi United while 2022 winners, Rivers United lost to Sunshine Stars.

Attahiru Yahaya Yahaya was the hero as NNL Super 8 -bound side, Sokoto United defeated the People's Elephant, Enyimba 1-0 in Abuja.

Rivers fell to a similar 1-0 loss as Lucky Nwafor's 8 minute goal knocked out the Pride of Rivers at Area 3 Sports Complex, Abuja.

Akwa United's campaign was ended by Kebbi United following a late second half goal as the Northerners triumphed 1-0 at the Bwari Stadium, Abuja.

Former NPFL side, El Kanemi Warriors defeated Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan 1-0 courtesy of an 83 minute goal by Al-Amin Umar.

In other matches, Kano Pillars, Inter Lagos won Katsina United and Ikorodu City on penalties to progress.
