Ezenwa: My Injury Is Not Serious, I’ll Be Back Soon

Eagles goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa has moved to allay fears following the injury he picked up in Wednesday’s Nigeria Professional Football League 1-1 draw between his club Enyimba and Kwara United in Ilorin.

Ezenwa, who made his second appearance for the two-time African champions against the Harmony Boys in the game following his arrival from FC IfeanyiUbah, was stretchered off in the 67th minute as he  landed  heavily after claiming a high ball.

The former junior international was replaced by Ghanaian Fatau Dauda in the 67th minute following the injury, prompting fears he might struggle to get fit to be part of Nigeria’s squad to the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

He has however claimed the injury is a minor one and that he will be back in training in a couple of days.

“It was just a minor injury. I have to thank God, it was not a serious one. Ezenwa is coming back (to training) in just about two or three days,” he told Enyimba media after the game.

The former Sunshine Stars and Heartland goalkeeper is now expected to be fit for next Wednesday’s crucial CAF Confederation Cup play-off round,  second leg fixture between Enyimba and Bidvest Wits of South Africa.

The Peoples Elephant held the Clever Boys to a 1-1 draw in the first leg in Johannesburg last week
