Ghana head coach Avram Grant has included Vitoria Guimaraes inspirational midfielder Bernard Mensah in his squad for the 2017 AFCON qualifier against Mauritius, according to reports in Portugal.
The 20-year-old who scored five (5) goals in 30 appearances for Guimaraes in the Portuguese top-flight in the recently ended season is expected to be among three debutants to be included Grant's 24-man squad.
Mensah flourished on his first full season in the top-flight attracting interest from Manchester United and Spanish side Valencia.
And, his form seems to have impressed the Israeli gaffer who wants to assess him in his midfield which is boosted with Sampdoria's Afriyie Acquah, Wakaso Mubarak and Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu as well as others who are fighting from beneath.
Avram Grant is expected to announce his squad for the game later this week but Sampdoria have already confirmed the inclusion of midfielder Afriyie Acquah.
Regular names Abdul Baba Rahman, Wakaso Mubarak, Harrison Afful, Asamoah Gyan, Kwesi Appiah and Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu are all expected to be included in the squad.
Ghana will play against the Islanders in Accra in the second week of June.
The Black Stars of Ghana are in group H with Rwanda, Mozambique and Gabon.
