Former Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah will pay a courtesy call on ex-president Jerry John Rawlings on Wednesday to invite him to his testimonial match.

The move follows a similar gesture handed to his predecessor John Agyekum Kuffuor last week. The legendary ex-Ghana captain is assembling the crème de crème of the Ghanaian society and world class players to his testimonial match expected to take place on June 27.

The former Juventus ace called time on his blistering career early this year with the testimonial match expected to attract huge numbers to the Accra sports stadium.

Appiah led Ghana to qualify for their first two World Cups in 2006 and 2010 and hugely hailed in the West African country for his leadership qualities.

The event is being put together by Primeval Media.
