A former Nigeria international Dahiru Sadi has urged Super Eagles caretaker manager Salisu Yusuf to backpedal on his resolve not to serve as assistant coach for the senior national team again after three stints in the role, saying doing so will help him land the job on the long run.
Widespread media reports indicate that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have Okayed the appointment of Frenchman Paul Le Guen as the next Super Eagles coach though an official announcement is yet to be made by the Glass House on the matter.
In a chat with Daily Trust yesterday, the Saudi 89 star, also said he was one of the people who advocated for Yusuf to be installed on a permanent basis because he believes the former Kano Pillars manager has the impetus to qualify Nigeria to the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
"I think he should change his mind on the assistant manager position, if he assists Paul Le Guen in the next few years it will only increase his chances of landing the big job in the future, Le Guen is a good coach and so is Yusuf and I believe they can combine well to take us to Russia."
Le Guen, 52, is expected to replace ex-international Sunday Oliseh who exited the job in February in the middle of the botched 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualification campaign.
The former France international was shortlisted alongside Belgian tactician Tom Saintfiet and Yusuf, but is odds on favourite to land the job having been the preferred candidate of NFF boss Amaju Pinnick and other high ranking chiefs at the Glass House.
