Chinese Super League team Shanghai SIPG are eyeing Nigeria captain John Obi Mikel, 29.
The holding midfielder could leave Chelsea before the end of his contract in June, as the Blues would want to recoup a portion of their previous investment on the player.
The Daily Mirror has reported that ex-Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas wants to work again with Mikel whom he coached during his brief spell at Stamford Bridge in the 2011-2012 season.
Villas-Boas replaced Sven-Goran Eriksson recently at Shanghai SIP and plans to overhaul the squad, with Mikel one of his primary targets.
Marseille are the other team monitoring the transfer situation of the former Lyn Oslo starlet.
