Ex Hearts of Oak chairman Harry Zakkour says he is shocked by the lowered standards in motivating the players for matches.
Zakkour who is now a leading politician for the governing NDC was part of a delegation of former top executives of the club to have made the trip to Cape Coast to support the side in their 4-0 thrashing of Heart of Lions on Wednesday.
The likes of Tommy Okine [now Nii Gbese], Isaac Tetteh, Stephen Akwuetey and Harry Zakkour himself have return to the club in an unofficial capacity to help drag the side from its current slump.
Their return has gingered the rank and file of the club and the massive win over Lions in midweek appears to have rejuvenated the side for the remaining seven matches in the Ghanaian top flight.
Zakkour is however shocked at how the players appear to have been neglected in terms of pledges and promises aimed at motivating players to excel to win matches – a practice that he often adopted during his time as chairman.
"We are going to play a crucial match and the board has not been here to visit the team," he said.
"There are no promises, no salary, no bonuses, nothing."
Harry Zakkour is famously nicknamed the Millennium chairman after leading Hearts to conquer Ghana and Africa by winning the Premier League, the CAF Champions League and Super Cup in the year 2000.
