Ex-Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah backs Kwesi Nyantakyi to retain Ghana FA top seat

Ex-Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah believes incumbent Kwesi Nyantakyi has done enough to retain his seat as Ghana FA boss.

Nyantakyi is racing for a third term bid ahead of the elections slated for Tamale on August 17.

So far four persons have picked up their nomination forms and are expected to file  by Thursday's deadline.

The current Ghanaian FA leader does not seem to have a credible opposition ahead of the congress with self-acclaimed youth team coach Ofeibea Ramatu and two unknown others picking their forms to challenge him at the polls.

But former Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah says the CAF Executive committee member is the right man to run Ghana football, insisting his achievements stands tall.

“The man is doing very well. Under his watch as GFA Boss, Ghana has made it to the World Cup on three occasions. What else do you expect from him? he quizzed on Accra-based Starr FM

“Once he has decided to run for the GFA Presidency again, I give my support to him.

It appears Nyantakyi will retain his seat with a landslide victory after his perceived challengers –Fred Pappoe and Randy Abbey chicken out of the race for perceived fear of being humiliated at the polls.

Nyantakyi has been President of the Ghana Football Association since 2005 and is seeking a fresh four-year term for the third time.
