Everton announce Nigerian descent Tim Iroegbunam as first summer signing

Nigerian-descent midfielder Tim Iroegbunam has joined Everton from Aston Villa, becoming the Toffees' first summer signing with the 20-year-old central midfielder signing a three-year deal keeping him at Goodison Park until the end of June 2027, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Iroegbunam, who was born in Birmingham, England, brings Nigerian roots to the Everton squad following in the footsteps of Joseph Yobo, Alex Iwobi. The exciting young player has represented England at the U20 level and was part of the England team that won the UEFA U19 European Championship in 2022 although his international allegiance at the senior level is yet unknown.

After securing his transfer to Everton, the Nigerian-descent midfielder expressed his delight to Everton TV: "I'm absolutely thrilled. Everton is a fantastic club, a giant of a team, and I'm just absolutely delighted to be here. I can't wait to get on the pitch and start contributing".
