EPL Wrap: Iwobi, substitutes Ndidi, Iheanacho Aribo all on the losing side

The English Premier League returned after the World Cup with seven mouth watering fixtures  on Monday, Box Day.

The fixtures saw Nigerian players involved in three out of the seven, but couldn't help their teams has they all lost at home.

Alex Iwobi's Everton could not hold on as they lost by two goals to one against Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Goodison Park Stadium.

Yerry Mina gave Everton the lead through a header in the 7th minute from Dwight McNeil's corner to mark his return to the team.

Wolves settled and levelled when Joao Moutinho expertly spotted the run of Daniel Podence in a fine move started from a cleverly-worked set-piece in the 22nd minutes.

Adama Traore's cross was deflected into Ait-Nouri's path for an untidy but priceless finish to give Wolves win.

Alex Iwobi played the entire duration of the game.

For Joe Aribo who was brought in  before the start of the second half and his Southampton side lost to Brighton Albion lost 1-3 at the Saint Mary Stadium.

The defeat further put the saints in a precarious position as they stay bottom in the English Premier League log.

Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho played for 17th and 18th minutes respectively as they saw their team lose 3-0 at the King Power Stadium n boxing day.

All goals came in the first half of the game as Chris Wood opened score in the 3rd minute while Miguel Almirón scored the second  in the 7'minutes. Joelinton completed the goals scored in the 32nd minutes.
