Onyeka, a pivotal figure in the Super Eagles' journey to the AFCON 2023 finals, featured prominently in all seven matches for the Nigerian side.

Despite Brentford's 1-0 loss to Manchester City, the 26-year-old impressed, attributing his performance to his recent AFCON experience.

"Going back to Africa, helping my team, coming back fit, it’s been really good. I feel really fit," Onyeka remarked on the club's official website.

Reflecting on the match, Onyeka expressed both disappointment at the loss and satisfaction with his team's defensive effort.

"It’s hard because they move the ball really quick, so we needed to adjust as quick as possible. We did that pretty well in the first half and the second half; defensively we did really well," he added.
