Nigeria's Taiwo Awonyi was pivotal to Nottingham Forest's return to winning ways as they defeated West Ham 2-0 in the English Premier League on Saturday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
The Super Eagles striker's goal and Callum Hudson-Odoi's late clincher ended a four-match winless run in the league for the Reds at the City Ground.
Taiwo scored at the dead of the first half after receiving a nice ball from Nicolás Domínguez in the penalty area which he turned and finished past Areola.
It could have been 2-0 after 6 minutes into the second phase of the game as Anthony Elanga's effort was saved by Areola.
Awonyi was substituted in the 67th minute for Divock Origi following an injury.
A minute later Kalvin Phillips of West Ham received a second yellow to be sent off in the game.
Callum Hudson-Odoi consolidated victory for the hosts at additional time after he hit a right footed at the bottom right corner of the post to score after Elanga's assist.
With the win Nottingham Forest go five points clear of the bottom three.
