England boss Gareth Southgate has insisted that "?England versus Scotland is a huge game and is planning to show his players a video montage of classic clashes in preparation for Friday's match.

Both sides will be looking for three points to aid their World Cup qualifying campaigns, but Southgate knows their is an added element to the fixture.

"This fixture is the oldest international." Southgate said, in Monday's press conference.

"It's a special fixture and these are the games you want to be involved in. Viewing figures will be five times that of a Premier League game. It will capture the imagination. What more could you want?"

With regard to the video montage, the former Middlesbrough manager joked that it would not include 'people sitting on the crossbar', referencing the famous Scottish pitch invasion after the 1977 win.

However, the 46-year-old is keen to extol the virtues of recognising the history of the tie.

"Some of these players are in a couple of the clips on the montage. That, and caps and medals, is what football is about."

"We also have some black and white stuff "? that I am not in "? and it's been really nicely done. You play for England and you are only looking after the shirt for the next person to come through. That is a good message for our players."
