The Ekiti Governors Cup continued with excitement on Wednesday, as matchday two, saw talented young footballers from various schools, showcase their skills and determination on the pitch.
In Ekiti South West, Adico Grammar School edged out Aramoko Community High School with a narrow 1-0 victory. United High School, Ilawe, displayed dominance with a convincing 3-1 win over Ilawe Grammar School. Meanwhile, Community Grammar School, Orun Ekiti, triumphed 2-0 over Arunjale Comprehensive High School, Ise Ekiti.
At Ise Ekiti, United Comprehensive High School managed a 1-0 victory against Ise Comprehensive High School, keeping their hopes alive in the competition.
In other thrilling encounters, Saliu Adeoti Grammar School secured a 2-1 win over Eyemojo Osan High School. Erinmope High School outplayed Aaye Oja Grammar School with a slender 1-0 victory.
Over at Ilejemeje Local Government, Iludun Community High School emerged victorious in a high-scoring 3-2 battle against Oniyo Grammar School. Government College also recorded a 1-0 win against Irepodun High School.
The competition, driven by the passion of the Schools' Sports Foundation and led by founder Yomi Elijah, highlights the importance of fostering sportsmanship among young athletes. Elijah expressed his confidence in the tournament's growth, emphasizing its role in uniting communities and developing talents.
The former Lobi Stars Manager also gave kudos to the participating schools for showing great spirit of sportsmanship. He however assured them that officiating will continue to be free and fair.
