Onyedika, a 23-year-old defensive midfielder, has been an important player for Club Brugge, recently providing an assist in a 6-0 demolition of Rangers in a UEFA Champions League playoff tie.
However, his potential departure may be challenging for Frankfurt to secure, given his value to the Belgian club.
This transfer comes in form of a year loan with an obligation to buy, valued around €15 million.
The transfer talks come as Frankfurt seeks to bolster its midfield options.
