Super Eagles caretaker coach Augustine Eguavoen has praised his team's adaptability after their convincing 3-0 win over Benin Republic in Saturday's 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying tie, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
Eguavoen opted for a 3-4-3 formation, which proved successful as Ademola Lookman scored a brace and substitute Victor Osimhen added a third goal.
The 59-year-old coach highlighted the team's quality and ability to adopt any style of play.
"The formation is only information. We have players of quality, and we can decide to play with any system," Eguavoen told reporters.
"There is something we discussed, and I slept over it, and I know that with the calibre of players we have, we can decide to play any formation and be successful."
Eguavoen credited the players' mindset and potential for the win, while also emphasizing the importance of respecting opponents.
"We have been getting a lot of backlash, and the boys didn't know this. And we know we have the calibre and quality to beat any team, but we have to respect teams anyway," he said.
The Super Eagles will now shift their attention to their next game against Amavubi of Rwanda, scheduled for Tuesday at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali.
