EFL: Leicester City boss delighted as Ndidi makes triumphant return

Leicester City's manager, Enzo Maresca, expressed his joy as Wilfred Ndidi rejoined the squad, marking his comeback in the Foxes' 1-0 victory against Sunderland, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Ndidi, whose absence spanned over two months due to a severe muscle injury, reclaimed his spot on the pitch, substituting Yunus Akgun in the 73rd minute.

Maresca emphasized Ndidi's significance to the team, stating, "I’m very happy. We need him, Wilf is so important to us so it’s good to have him back," as quoted on Leicester City’s website.

The Nigerian midfielder's return follows his unfortunate absence during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire due to the injury.

Meanwhile, Ndidi’s compatriot, Kelechi Iheanacho also came in as a late substitute playing the last 12 minutes of the tie.
