EFL: Chuba Akpom breaks championship record with goal against Hull City
Akpom strikes the third goal for Boro

Chuba Akpom scores his 28th league goal of the season with a fine strike in Middleborough's home victory over Hull City in the English Championship League on Wednesday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

With the goal, Akpom set a new Championship record after scoring for the 9th successive home game.

Boro had to come from behind to beat City 3-1 and keep their very slim Championship automatic promotion hopes alive.

Allahyar Sayyadmanesh headed home Adama Traore's near post corner to give the Tigers the lead four minutes before the end of the first half.

Hayden Hackney levelled for the hosts after man of the match winner, Isaiah Jones set him up nicely 8 minutes into the second half.

Cameron Archer gave Boro the lead in the 58th minute after City failed to deal with a long ball up the pitch.

Akpom scored 3 minutes later to give the Hosts a comfortable lead and a crucial win which keeps them fourth with a point adrift of Luton Town after accumulating 74 points in 42 matches.
