It was a harvest of goals on Wednesday afternoon at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City as Edo Queens FC thrashed Brave Hearts Queens FC 14-1 in the final of the Edo State Football Association Cup.
Expectedly, the Obaseki Girls didn't take long to open the flood gate of goals after Emem Essien scored in the early minutes of the game. Omotoke Odueke added two in the first half with the tournament's highest goals scorer, Yemisi Samuel adding one.
Chioma Olise was not left out in the scoring jamboree match as she added two goals in the first half before Alani Jumoke registered her name on the scorer's sheet to close the first half at 7-0
The Queens picked up the second half from where they left the first as they continued their goals-scoring mode.
Though down by twelve goals, Brave Hearts' girls wasn't torn apart as they got a consolation with a beautifully taken volley to beat Udoka Unachukwu, who was off her line, in the 61st minute.
Efe Osakpolor was the next to register her name on the scorer's sheet with a well-executed goal from a promising angle. Yetunde Fajobi also had her chance to score and she made no mistake in doing just that after the hour mark.
Alani Jumoke got her second goal of the day in between Deborah Odiagbe's hattrick, her first in the team's colour to seal for her team, an emphatic whitewashing of their opponents.
With this impressive out this evening, Edo Queens have proved their continuous dominance in the State Women football competition have won the State GA Cup for good seven time back to back.
The Edo State FA Cup competition ended on a glamorous note as top football personalities in and around the State graced the event.
Permanent Secretary of Edo State Sports Commission Mrs. Sabina Chikere presented the trophies to both Bendel Insurance FC and Edo Queens FC. as Champions of this year's edition, while the FA Chairman Comrade Rolland Abu also did some presentations to deserving winners.
Edo Queens player Yemisi Samuel got the highest goal scorer award, Emem Essien, of Edo Queens won the Most Valuable Player MVP, award, while the best goalkeeper of the tournament went to Brave Hearts Queens FC goalkeeper.
