Eagles Wrap: Awoniyi, Balogun score winners as Iwobi get brace of assits

The Super Eagles players answered when called to action for their respective teams in England and other leagues on Saturday.

Taiwo Awoniyi started the day as he gave his side Nottingham Forest their second win of the 2022/2023 English Premier League season against his former side Liverpool.

 

Aoniyi saw an effort from close range hit the post but was there to tuck the rebound past Alisson in the 55th minutes of the encounter.

 

He was substituted for Worall in the 63rd minute of the tie.

Later in the day, Nigeria's playmaker, Alex Iwobi put in another exceptional performance to aid Everton's over Crystal Place at Godson Park.

 

He provided the assists for the two goals which sunk Palace. He takes his assist tally to five second to Kelvin De Bruyne who has nine.

In the English Championship, Super Eagles defender, Leon Balogun scored the winner for Queen's Park Rangers in their over Wigan Athletic.

 

It was Balogun's first goal for QPR and it was against his former side and it proved to be the winner in an impressive defensive display against Wigan in the Championship.

Ayo Obileye put in a good shift in defence to help Livingston earn a tough 1-1 away draw at Rangers in the Scottish Premier League.

 

In the Dutch League, Calvin Bassey put in a good performance to help Ajax earn a big away win. They won by four goals tp one away from home.

 

Saviour Godwin provided an assist but couldn't prevent Casa Pia’s from a defeat away at Sporting in the Belgian Pro League.
