€25m-Rated Anderson Talisca Reportedly Close to Wolves Move With Liverpool Set to Miss Out

According to Portuguese publication A Bola, Liverpool are set to miss out on Benfica midfielder Anderson Talisca to Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Talisca, 22, made 20 appearances for Benfica in Liga Sagres but only six of those were starts in only his second season in European football. He did, however, manage to score against Bayern Munich in the Champions League in a last 16 tie.

The Portuguese giants have set a €25m (£21m) price tag on the midfielder due to the interest his performances have attracted. Liverpool are reportedly one of those interested parties and reports have been rife that he could be heading for Anfield this summer.

But incredibly, Portuguese media are reporting the Reds are not the only English side targeting Talisca. According to reports, Championship side Wolves are in front of the queue for his signature and are reportedly prepared to pay the €25m fee.

The record transfer fee paid by a Championship side was Fulham's acquisition of Ross McCormack for £11m from Leeds United but Wolves, backed by billionaire owner, Guo Guangchang, look set to smash that record.

It is understood that the West Midlands side will secure a work permit for the Brazilian by the end of the weekend.

The blow of Liverpool potentially missing out on Talisca will be eased by the fact Jurgen Klopp has already set about signing attacking midfielders this summer.

Netherlands international Georginio Wijnaldum's £25m move from Newcastle United followed Liverpool's £36m purchase of Sadio Mane from Southampton has only added to an already potent attacking force.
