Asante Kotoko’s financier Dr. Kwaku Frimpong is unlikely to be chosen as the new management head of the club as owner Otumfuo Osei Tutu II gets ready to name a new board.
The Chief Executive Officer of Champion Divine Clinic appeared set to succeed Opoku Nti as head of management with a massive shakeup in the club’s administration looming.
Dr. Frimpong is a known financier of the dethroned Premier League champions and was the one behind the behind the idea to appoint Thomas Miller Nielsen as the club’s new technical director.
The heavily loaded medical practitioner was even ready to foot the huge cost of a possible premature termination of coach David Duncan’s contract once he refused the accept the appointment of Nielsen.
But the heavy schedule of Dr. Frimpong as he is also involved in other businesses does not make him a suitable candidate to head the club’s next management team.
Kotoko owner Otumfuo Osei Tutu II is set to name a new board for the club in the coming days following the perceived poor performance of the current directors.
Under the board leadership of lawyer Paul Adu Gyamfi, Asante Kotoko have failed to retain their Premier League and FA Cup titles in the just ended season where the Reds finished the campaign trophyless.
This situation is said not to have gone down well with the Kotoko owner who was even expecting a successful campaign of the side in the CAF Champions League.
The newly constituted board will be given the power to choose their own management team and its head.
Former Ghana defender Samuel Osei Kuffour is reported to be one of the contenders to lead the club’s next management team as is former chairman Herbert Mensah.
