Doma United hand Rivers United first loss of the season

Newcomers, Doma United are the first team to beat defending champions, Rivers United in the 2022/2023 Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL season, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The Savannah Tigers came from behind to edge the Pride of Rivers 2-1 at the Pantami Stadium, Gombe in their NPFL Match Day 6 fixture.

Usman Musa scored a brace as the Tigers responded to Rivers United's Ndasi early goal in the game.

Ndasi Kadiang headed in from a corner kick to put the visitors ahead in the 22nd minute after quiet an uneventful start.

But Musa's 18 yard box low shot went pass Rivers defence and pass the keeper to put the two teams at equilibrium in the 34th minute.

In the second half, Rivers United pushed for a goal as Nyima Nwagua had a penalty shout following Saifullahi's after the attacker was in a goal bound situation.

In the 62nd minute, Majalisa'st freekick was comfortably collected by Sochima after Azeez brought down Usman Musa.

Six minutes later, Musa scored the second goal through a header after Bidemi beat his marker inside the box and send in a low cross.

Doma remained effective not to concede until 90 and two minutes additional time as Ebube Duru's freekick was saved by goalkeeper Kingdom to keep the score at 2-1 at the end of the day.
