Dimitri de Condé, the Head of Football at KRC Genk, recently addressed inquiries about whether he had engaged in discussions with veteran players Mike Trésor and Paul Onuachu during the latest transfer window, Nigeriasoccernet.com gathered.
According to the report on Voetbal Primeur, while there were no recent conversations with Trésor, de Condé said he did have several productive discussions with Onuachu.
De Condé revealed through Genk's official channels that his talks with Onuachu were constructive, continuing the dialogue they had started the previous year. Onuachu expressed a deep connection with Genk, stating, "Genk is home for me, and it will always be. One day, I will return, but for now, I want to keep experiencing football abroad."
SportWitness.co.uk adds that despite Onuachu's affection for Genk, there were ongoing discussions with other clubs throughout the transfer window. These talks included interest from several European teams, with offers that Genk found challenging to match. As a result, despite the mutual respect and interest, a transfer could not be finalized.
De Condé concluded that while there was genuine interest and positive dialogue, the circumstances did not allow for a transfer at this time. The focus now shifts to supporting Onuachu's continued development and performance abroad while keeping an eye on future opportunities for both the player and the club.
