Former France manager Didier Deschamps has turned down an offer to become Manchester United’s head coach, according to The Mirror.
The Premier League club reportedly contacted the Frenchman about replacing Michael Carrick, but Deschamps is not interested in taking the position and declined the opportunity.
Unai Emery and Julian Nagelsmann are also understood to remain on Manchester United’s shortlist. However, former Newcastle manager Eddie Howe is now the club’s leading candidate, according to the report.
Manchester United are 17th in the English Premier League table after collecting seven points from their opening nine matches.
