Dutch-born Ghanaian defensive Derrick Luckassen grabbed his maiden senior career goal from a wonderful free-kick as he scored in AZ Alkmaar's 3-1 triumph over ADO Den Haag in the Eredivisie on Saturday evening.
The 19-year-old central defender restored the lead for Alkmaar at the AFAS Stadion after the visitors had equalised the host's lead.
Luckassen, who was playing his 12th league game of the season atoned for an own goal he scored two weeks ago in AZ's loss against Feyenoord.
ADO Den Haag came into the game after the goal with Oleksandr Iakovenko causing danger, while Danny Bakker sent a header just wide. Ten minutes into the second half the visitors were level when Wilson Eduardo took advantage of slack play from AZ before beating Esteban.
However ADO Den Haag’s parity didn’t last long as five minutes after equalising Derrick Luckassen scored a lovely free kick to put AZ back in front, and Gudelj sealed the win on 65 minutes, finishing off a good pass from Aron Johannsson.
Luckassen is a younger brother of Slovan Liberec's Kevin Luckassen who has expressed his interest in playing for Ghana as his parents are from Ghana.
