David Duncan has denied being in advanced talks towards being appointed the substantive coach of Asante Kotoko – insisting the position of head coach is not yet vacant.

The former Hearts of Oak trainer is reportedly in advanced behind-the-scenes talks with the top hierarchy of Kotoko towards becoming the substantive replacement for Mas-Ud Dramani who has been asked to proceed on leave.

Dramani is however eager to end his stay at Kotoko with some few months left to run on his existing deal.

The former national women’s team coach wants to be handed all benefits for the remainder of his contract in order to completely severe ties with the club.

But Duncan who is widely tipped to succeed Dramani has poured cold water on his link to Kotoko – saying the position of head coach is not yet vacant for him to open talks over a move.

“There is no such position in Kotoko because the position is not vacant,” he told Happy FM.

“If the position becomes vacant then we can hold discussions and come to an agreement.”
