Manchester United ended a nine-match winless run by recovering from 2-1 down to beat Roma 3-2 in the Champions League, with Matheus Cunha scoring twice in the closing stages.
The home side appeared to be heading towards another disappointing result after trailing until the 83rd minute. However, Cunha’s late double turned the match around and secured three points for Michael Carrick’s side.
Bruno Fernandes had put Manchester United ahead in the 58th minute, converting a penalty. Roma then overturned the deficit before United produced their decisive response in the final stages.
The victory brings an end to Manchester United’s longest sequence without a win under Carrick, which had reached nine matches. It is also the club’s first success in any competition since 10 September, when they defeated Sabah 4-0 at home.
