Inter head coach Cristian Chivu says the principles his side follows in matches are more important than whether they use three or four central defenders.
Chivu was speaking to reporters before Inter’s Serie A meeting with Parma in the sixth round of the championship. The match will take place on 10 October.
The Romanian was asked whether Inter could eventually follow the example of the Italy national team by switching from a system with three central defenders to a back four.
“The most important thing is the principles that we follow in the game,” Chivu said.
Inter have taken 13 points from their opening five matches and are among the leaders of the Serie A table. They are level with Roma and Lazio, who have also collected 13 points.
