The Cote d’Ivoire will host Cameroon at the Stade Olympique Alassane Ouattara d’Ebimpe on Saturday, 3 October 2026, in a high-profile friendly between two of Africa’s leading sides.
Kick-off is scheduled for 19:00 GMT, with the match to be broadcast by Canal+ Afrique and NCI.
The fixture will provide both teams with a final strategic test before the end of this international break. The encounter brings together two squads with a closely matched recent history, although Cote d’Ivoire hold the stronger overall record.
Head-to-head record
The Elephants have won two of the three previous friendly meetings between the sides, with the other ending in a draw.
Across all official and friendly matches since 1970, Cote d’Ivoire have recorded 12 victories to Cameroon’s 10, while there have been two draws in 24 encounters. Cameroon have scored 30 goals in those matches, compared with 29 for Cote d’Ivoire.
The most recent meetings were:
- 28 December 2025, Africa Cup of Nations: Cote d’Ivoire 1-1 Cameroon - 7 January 2023, friendly: Cote d’Ivoire 1-1 Cameroon - 16 November 2021, World Cup qualifying: Cameroon 1-0 Cote d’Ivoire - 6 September 2021, World Cup qualifying: Cote d’Ivoire 2-1 Cameroon - 30 January 2016, African Nations Championship: Cameroon 0-3 Cote d’Ivoire after extra time
Form of the teams
Cote d’Ivoire arrive in strong form after completing a perfect run in their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches. At the end of September, they defeated Ghana and Somalia by identical 2-0 scorelines.
At this summer’s World Cup, the Elephants beat Curacao 2-0 but lost 2-1 to both Germany and Norway.
Cameroon’s most recent qualifying results were a 1-1 draw against Congo and a 3-1 victory over Comoros. Since the start of 2026, they have also lost to Morocco at the Africa Cup of Nations and Australia in a friendly, while recording a 2-0 friendly win against China.
Didier Zokora has shared his analysis of the fixture, while probable line-ups have also been considered ahead of the meeting.
Prediction
Both sides may rotate their squads, which could reduce the intensity of the match. Cote d’Ivoire nevertheless have a slight psychological advantage because of their collective organisation and home advantage at Ebimpe.
Cameroon are expected to provide a significant physical challenge and have the strength to trouble the hosts.
Africafoot’s prediction is a 1-1 draw.
The listed betting odds are 1.98 for a Cote d’Ivoire win, 2.80 for a draw and 2.21 for a Cameroon victory.
