Cook outlines Cherries' goals

Published on: 15 June 2019

Bournemouth defender Steve Cook says the squad are determined to secure a top-10 finish in the Premier League next season.

Having secured promotion to the top flight back in 2015 under manager Eddie Howe, the Cherries have now established themselves as a Premier League outfit.

Their success has not gone unnoticed, with the likes of Callum Wilson, Nathan Ake and Ryan Fraser all being linked with moves away this summer.

Cook has been pleased with the club's progress over recent season and feels the Cherries should be pushing towards a top-10 finish next term.

"We worked incredibly hard to get here in the first place and have had to work even harder to stay here for four years," he told the club's website.

"It is a privilege to play against some of the best players and teams in Europe but we have earned the right to be here."

The experienced defender claims pushing higher up the table is the aim in the upcoming campaign as they continue to compete amongst England's elite.

Cook added: "Hopefully, we can really kick on and try to finish as close as we possibly can to these teams. We want to stay in this league for many years to come and know we have a lot of work to do to make sure that happens."

The Cherries are 7/2 to finish in the top-10 next season.
