Confluence Queens remained top and unbeaten in group A of the Nigeria Women Football League as former champions Bayelsa Queens and Rivers Angels share spoils in group B on Wednesday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
Lokoja based side, Confluence Queens extended their unbeaten start, becoming the only Group A side yet to lose a match this season after five games after beating Abia Angels 2-0.
Goals from Feranmi Feheezah in the 16 minutes and Mary Mamudu 11 minutes later sealed the win for Confluence Queens who have a 4-point lead in the group.
In the same group, Heartland Queens could not close up the gap with Confluence Queens as they played a goalless draw against strugglers, Naija Ratels.
Bayelsa Queens remained unbeaten and moved to the top of group B after their one-all draw against Rivers Angels as Edo Queens fell to a 2-0 loss over Remo Stars Ladies.
Moturayo Ezekiel had put Rivers Angels ahead in the 3rd minute before Rose Ekong levelled matters for the Prosperity Ladies in the 55th minute.
Ezekiel was sent off at additional time, but it was too late to change the complexion of the game as it ended 1-1 at the Samson Siasia Stadium.
Remo Stars Ladies got a maiden win in the league against Edo Queens courtesy of goals from Innocent Patricia and Esther Ogbonna Akudo.
Ekiti Queens also secured their first win of the league campaign after piping Sunshine Queens 1-0 courtesy of Miracle Ohaeri's 63rd minute.
