Super Falcons Head Coach, Randy Waldrum expressed his level of confidence in his team claiming the “team is very talented and has the same ability to go far in the tournament, just like the Class of 1999.”

Super falcons in 1999, in their third appearance at the FIFA women World Cup achieved their biggest feet at the tournament getting to the quarter final of the World Cup in USA.

Although the Nigeria women football team was spanked by team USA 7-1 but the falcons have never since then gotten to the quarterfinal.

The Super Falcons under Waldrum have not been at their optimum best but managed to secure the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup ticket when the defeated Cameron at the quarter final of the African Women Championship in Morocco last year.

However, Waldrum think highly of his team.

“I am confident and realistic about this. We have an abundance of talents in the squad and I am convinced they can go that far.

This particular team is very talented and has the same ability to go far in the tournament, just like the Class of 1999.” Waldrum said in a chat with thenff.com.

The Super Falcons have been drawn alongside Olympic champions Canada, co-hosts Australia and Republic of Ireland in Group B of the 9th FIFA Women’s World Cup finals, and will play all their group phase matches in Australia – one in Melbourne and two in Brisbane.
