Como made a striking start to their UEFA Champions League campaign by beating RB Leipzig 4-1 in a commanding display.
The home side controlled 52% of possession and set the pace throughout, while their clinical finishing exposed the German club’s defensive weaknesses.
Como took the lead after 15 minutes when M. Baturina found the net. The midfielder then turned provider before half-time, setting up Tasos Douvikas to double the advantage in the 38th minute.
RB Leipzig needed a response after the interval, but Como continued to dominate. Assane Diao made it 3-0 in the 54th minute after being played in by Nico Paz, underlining the hosts’ superiority.
The visitors briefly threatened a comeback four minutes later. Christopher Nkunku supplied Andrija Maksimovic, who pulled a goal back for RB Leipzig in the 58th minute.
That effort ultimately proved insufficient as Como remained in control and added a fourth goal in the 90th minute to settle the contest.
The closing stages were tense, with RB Leipzig players receiving three yellow cards, but Como protected their advantage and completed a prestigious victory on the opening matchday.
