Phillip Cocu is honoured to have been named Derby County's new manager following Frank Lampard's departure from the Rams to become Chelsea boss.
The 48-year-old former Netherlands international has penned a four-year contract with the Championship side, who were beaten in the play-off final by Aston Villa almost six weeks ago.
He starred for PSV Eindhoven and Barcelona during a 20-year playing career before going on to manage PSV and Fenerbahce.
In his playing days Cocu won four Eredivisie titles with the Dutch side as well as the 1998/99 La Liga title with Barca before managing PSV to three league successes - in 2014/15, 2015/16 and 2017/18.
He said: "I'm pleased and honoured to confirm that Derby County will be my new club and can't wait to meet with the team and the fans to start this adventure together."
Meanwhile, Derby's executive chairman Mel Morris said: "We're continuing to develop our philosophy at Derby County and, from the first conversation with Phillip and his team, it was very clear they share similar views.
"The fit is strong. We want to build on the momentum that we have in our style of play, our club values, and the increasingly important role of our Academy. Phillip and his team understand the need and benefits of this approach.
"Phillip has an excellent track record of achievement in his managerial career with a proven ability to develop players to drive both tangible success and value. We are looking forward to Phillip leading us into the new season."
Derby, 11/2 to be promoted from the Championship in 2019/20, are 21/10 to win their season-opener at Huddersfield Town on Monday 5th August.
