Head coach of Cape Coast Ebusua Dwarfs, J.E. Sarpong has blasted Chelsea players after the club's 4-0 thumbling of Maccabi Tel Aviv for denying Ghana defender Baba Rahman passes for him to exhibit his full potential.

The former Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko manager believes that Baba Rahman was denied the ball on numerous occasions when he runs to space expecting the ball and that Jose Mourinho must talk to the other players to understand that they are working like a team.

Speaking in an interview with GHANAsoccernet.com, coach J.E. Sarpong said "I watched the match and Baba was not really tested."

"What I detected during the game was that his Chelsea team mates were not given him the balls anytime he positions himself well for it. It seems the players do not know how he plays but Mourinho must make them understand that they are a team and must play as such," he added.

"Even when Baba had positioned himself well for a pass, you see the team mates putting the ball at a very difficult angle where he needs to struggle before he gets the ball. It doesn't auger well for team building," he concluded.

Baba Rahman, 21, played the full throttle for Chelsea in their champions league game on Wednesday at the Stamford Bridge to his debut appearance for the English Champions.

Guys you better take a look at the game once more and stop attacking the coach.... Coachiro youve said it all. Its not just a matter of passing(balloing the ball to places he cant pick it); but a meaningful one especially when a player moves to a vantage point ready to contribute... If you have a technical eye, you will have taken notice of what JE. Sarpong saw. So please come again!!!

I support the coach, you need a technical eye to observe what the coach is talking about. Its obvious you guys lambasting the him do not have a technical eye.

thanks for using the word technically... baba had a 91 pass accuracy in that match but that's not the point the coach is making here what he is trying to say is we all know baba rahman to be running from behind so a wing or midfield player could lay a perfect pass to him on the corner line so he give a perfect pullout. I guess here didn't make even more than 3 pullout/cross..... that's what the coach is try'na say. thnx

Very well said coach, anybody with good football sense and understanding will definitely support what the coach is saying, they did denied him so many passes in the first half whenever he made his runs but they got him involved in the second half and he did just what he is good at, they need to get him more involved for the good of the team.

And according to football expects Baba scored 91% of his game that day what more could any good coach want from such a player, and if really watch the game it was played more to the left than the right on Chelsea side, and in football a player moving into space doesn't necessarily mean you should give him a pass, he could do that to divert attention.

What match did this coach watch, there is a video on Baba on this match right here on this website, he should watch and count the number of passes sent to Baba,This all this Colo coaches know, always playing the blame game.

Well stated coach Sarpong! I saw exactly what you stated here and was wondering that even in today's soccer, some footballers still do that. Believed Mou might have detected that too

Let's all hope it gets better, especially with his overall performance on the night, they will have much confidence in him and feed him with more passes, this guy is going make a massive inpact on the team and will become the best left back in the league in the shortest period of time. Let's pray for him to keep up with his hard work.
