According to a new rumor first reported by a number of Mexican media outlets, Mexican international Hector Moreno is peeking the interest of several Mexican and MLS clubs, chief among them Chivas. The former AS Roma defender's deal with Qatar side Al-Gharafa FC is set to expire on June 30 this year, making him a free agent and an enticing profile for many clubs in Mexico and the USA.
In an interview with Bein Sports' Fernando Cevallos, Moreno opened up about the possibility of a return to Mexico, specifically to giants Chivas: "Being a free agent is a totally new experience for me, I hope to get as many offers as possible so to talk about it with my family and weigh my options. My objective is to be able to get to Qatar 2022 in top form, and a return to Mexico or an experience in MLS could help me do that. Chivas is a team that fascinates me, they will always be a team of great tradition and one with a great following in Latin America. However, I still haven't talked to anybody, I'm waiting for my contract to expire and then we'll se what the fututre holds".
Moreno came up in Pumas UNAM youth sector, and left while still very young to play for Dutch club AZ Alkmaar at 19. He has also played for Espanyol, PSV, AS Roma and Real Sociedad before acceptin Al-Gharafa's offer.
