Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie has expressed excitement over the arrival of Nigerian teenager Zadok Yohanna at Brighton & Hove Albion, saying she is looking forward to helping him settle into life at the Premier League side, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
The 18-year-old winger recently completed a move from Swedish club AIK Stockholm after Brighton beat off competition from several European clubs, including Newcastle United, Chelsea, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig.
Nnadozie, who is currently in Nigeria after helping the Super Falcons to back-to-back friendly victories over Senegal, said she was delighted to see another Nigerian join the club and is ready to support him when she returns to England.
“When I first saw the news online, I was really happy for him,” she said, adding that it is always encouraging to have fellow Nigerians within the same team environment.
She also revealed that Brighton often organises bonding activities involving both the men’s and women’s teams, where players are paired based on nationality, making Yohanna’s arrival even more special for her.
Yohanna signed a five-year deal with Brighton, choosing the club ahead of several top European sides due to its reputation for developing young talent and providing a clear pathway into the first team.
Brighton manager Fabian Hürzeler praised the youngster’s creativity and attacking potential, suggesting he could make a strong impact in the final third.
The move is seen as another example of Brighton’s growing reputation for nurturing emerging talents, while also strengthening the club’s Nigerian connection alongside Nnadozie.
