Chelsea could beat Manchester City to the signature of Abdul Rahman Baba with a €15million bid for the FC Augsburg left-back, L’Equipe revealed on Wednesday.

While the Citizens are reportedly preparing a €8million offer for the Ghana international, whom they have been monitoring in the Bundesliga lately, Baba could instead land at Stamford Bridge to pursue his promising career.

The 20-year-old full-back has been nothing short of impressive since joining Augsburg from Greuther F?rth on a five-year contract last summer, making 28 appearances from 31 league matches.

Already scouted by several European big guns, including Arsenal, Manchester City and Napoli, during his one-year loan spell at Asante Kotoko, the former Dreamz FC youngster had ultimately opted for the Bundesliga in the summer of 2012.

At international level, Baba took part in the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup that saw the Black Satellites claim third place in Turkey, before making his senior debut with the Black Stars against Togo in a 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier last September.

And the Tamale-born became a regular starter for Ghana, with whom he sealed a runners-up finish at the AFCON in Equatorial Guinea.
